Air-to-air heat exchangers
Filter fabric is not currently capable of withstanding very high temperatures, so gas needs to be cooled prior to the bag filter stage. Common systems for doing this: an air-to-air heat exchangers are one of the most. They are frequently used in the cement industry for clinker cooler gas de-dusting; the gas has to be cooled from around 450 ºC to a filter fabric acceptable temperature (<250 c="" p="">
Heat exchangers cool gas by means of convection. The hot gas circulates inside steel tubes, while external ambient air is forced through axial fans.
The great advantage of these coolers is that no air is added to the circuit and therefore the volume of gas to be filtered is not increased unnecessarily.
